In this popular one-day workshop, you will have the opportunity to carve your own stone, an art form that is not typically accessible.
For beginners and experienced sculptors alike, you'll be guided through the process of looking into the rock for imagery, carving into material, planning and forming a sculpture and using tools. Hand-carving techniques will be demonstrated and stone carving lore will be discussed. Safety in the studio and tool sourcing will be addressed. You will leave with a stone sculpture in hand. All materials will be provided. If you have a past stone you need to work on, there is a byos (bring your own stone) option!
Important: You will need to bring safety glasses, gloves and mask. Because of new social distancing requirements there will only be room for six stone carvers in studio at any one time.
