What you'll learn in this art history class:

Where can we start with Art? From cave paintings to the work being created right now, this speed-date with a complex discipline will whet your appetite for the art that is all around us. We’ll discuss artists’ traditional and radical roles around the world, connecting style, structure, and meaning in new ways.

  • Week 1: Thinking globally, looking locally
  • Week 2: Why is it called The Canon?
  • Week 3: How we discuss race, class, and gender – and how we don’t
  • Week 4: Modernism
  • Week 5: Contemporary art
  • Week 6: A few of our favorite things: Highlights of your art history

Note: This online course will combine live sessions weekly on Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Canvas learning management system and Zoom video conferencing platform will be used to access course content and communicate with the instructor and peers.


Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Refund Policy
FOR ADULTS:
  • 100 percent tuition refund one week prior to first class.
  • No refunds will be issued less that one week prior to first class.
FOR KIDS:
  • 100 percent tuition refund prior to Friday, May 13.
  • 100 percent tuition refund less $100 cancellation fee after May 13 and prior to the second class.
  • No refunds will be issued after the second class has met.
Any requests for exceptions to the cancellation policy as stated above must be submitted in writing and accompanied by the school's refund exception form which will be sent to you by CourseHorse after we receive your request.
