What you'll learn in this poetry class:

Combine poetry and art while exploring different poetry forms. In the first session, we’ll look at different poetry forms: haiga (which combines art and haiku), cherita (longer, more narrative form of haikus) and ekphrastic (poems inspired by works of art). The next week we’ll explore more poetry forms, including acrostic, limerick, shape, list, golden shovel, nonet, and zeno. Bring to class: sketchbook, pencils and erasers, watercolors, brushes, permanent pens (i.e., black microns or similar), nature images (from a magazine or your phone, or your head, ideas for a very short story).
