Emily Culbert

Emily is a multidisciplinary artist and educator working in Chicago, IL. Her studio practice utilizes printmaking and sculpture to investigate the conversion of printed image to three-dimensional structure, mining the spaces between blueprint, assembly plan, and constructed object.

Emily’s teaching style:
Inquiry-based learning is the foundation of her approach to teaching. She encourages students to form their own questions about the world and examine them through their artistic practice. Her classes are rooted in material exploration and she creates lesson plans that allow students to dig into their personal interests to inspire their artwork.
