Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this photography class:

Photographing your work can often be the missing link between making inspiring objects and actually showing them to anyone. Of course, it would be nice to have someone do it for you, but if you can coherently document your own work it opens up an easy channel from being productive in the studio to sharing your work digitally.

In two days, class will experiment with different approaches to lighting, camera setup, and set design with a focus on shiny and reflective objects.

Students should bring objects to class for photographing, and whatever camera equipment they have on hand.

No experience required.

School Notes:

Preparing for class

  • It is recommended that students bring notebooks and water bottles to in person classes. All basic materials and supplies needed for the class will be provided. If students wish to use specific tools or materials not supplied in class they are responsible for obtaining these items themselves.

Studio Attire

  • For your safety, protective eyewear must be worn at all times in all areas of the UrbanGlass Studio. We will provide appropriate eyewear for your use. Appropriate work clothes are also required. Flammable or synthetic fabrics, sandals and open-toe shoes are not allowed. Long hair must be tied back.

Refund Policy

Enrollment cancellations made outside sixteen (16) days from the first day of class are eligible for a refund less a 5% processing fee. Refunds will not be granted for any cancellations made inside sixteen (16) days from the first day of class, or for withdrawals during class.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

Question from Sulimon B.
Hi, I would like to do a product photography class as I would like to be able to take my own photos of jewelry and apparel (against clean white backgrounds) to post online. Is there an affordable camera or type of camera you would recommend buying for a good result. I'm confused between getting a DSLR or a mirrorless camera?
Answer from Ari E. Verified Educator
For this course, in particular, we will provide a DSLR to be used during the course as well as ways to best use cell phone cameras for these types of photos. I might suggest using this course as an opportunity to ask the instructor what camera they would suggest for these shots. -Kellie Krouse, UrbanGlass Registrar
