What you'll learn in this letterpress class:

In this six hour letterpress workshop, you will learn to print on the Vandercook proof press and the Chandler & Price Pilot Press.

Using The Arm's five Vandercook presses and C&P Pilot, participants will print a variety of items from metal type, wood type, and samples of photopolymer plates and hand cut linoleum blocks. All materials and supplies are included.

This one day class will prepare you to use the presses in our studio needing only occasional guidance from studio personnel. Those who complete this workshop will be qualified to book press time during our weekly open studio hours.

This workshop is an excellent place to start if you would like to gain the skills necessary to print your own projects like business cards, stationery, wedding invitations and posters.

Question from Julianna C.
Hello! I noticed there is another class listing that had "beginner" in the title of the class, but that one hasn't had class dates posted, whereas this one does and does have "beginner" in the description. Want to make sure that this class would definitely be suitable for myself as a beginner before I sign up! Thanks so much!

Dan and this class are great! The class size of 7 was a perfect size, and the only thing that I wish was different is that I prepared something like a quote / idea ahead of time so that I could focus more on the layout and process.

Dan was extremely patient and guided us through using the Vandercook press. I felt pretty confident that I could use it when I book time at the press in the future. The class did end an hour and a half earlier, so it was 4.5 hours instead of the 6 that I paid for. Would have loved to have had different projects to work on to fill up the class time.

I absolutely loved being in this studio! It was a great overview course of Letterpress and I'm excited that after this course we're allowed to book studio time on the presses. Dan was great about sharing resources and tips for when we come back to work on our own projects. Great way to spend a Sunday in Williamsburg!
