Description
Class Level: Beginner
Age Requirements: 18 and older
Average Class Size: 12
Teacher: Diana Rodgers

What you'll learn in this sewing class:

If you've been wanting to learn to sew patchwork quilts, this is the class for you! In this five-hour intensive, instructor Diana Rogers will take students on a tour of beginner patchwork -- the process of sewing small pieces of fabric together to make a larger composition.

In this class you'll learn:
  • How to design and assemble a log cabin quilt block
  • Beginner-level patchwork basics
  • How to accurately cut fabric with a rotary cutter and cutting mat
  • How to assemble your fabric pieces (you must have machine sewing experience)
  • How to iron in quilting
  • The specific cutting and assembly methods used in a simple quilt block
We will provide cutting mats, rotary cutters and rulers to share.
Each student will have access to their own sewing machine courtesy of BERNINA of America.

Students will work toward making a small quilt top-- either one jumbo quilt block, or several smaller blocks.

Skill Requirements
Please note this is not a learn-to-sew class. Students must have basic machine sewing knowledge and be comfortable using a sewing machine.

If you do not know how to sew, please take one of our Sewing 101 classes as a prerequisite to this class.

Fabric
Fabric will be available to purchase during class at a 10% discount to workshop attendees.

Refund Policy

WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY

We do not issue refunds on workshop registrations.

If you register for a workshop and later become unable to attend, we will gladly offer a school credit if you notify us at least 48 hours before the workshop. We are unable to offer credits of any kind, or honor reschedule requests, with less than 48 hours advance notice.

About Our Policy

Our workshops require a great deal of pre-planning, including ordering supplies and tools, booking staff, and making commitments to pay our instructors -- all based on the number of students who register. When students ask to cancel or reschedule at the last minute, we lose money. As a small business, we are unable to absorb these costs and still keep our class prices low.

In fairness to all of our customers we are unable to make exceptions to our policy, including for reasons of illness or travel. If you are unable to attend a workshop at the last minute, we suggest giving your spot to a friend!

Thank you for understanding!
