Description

What you'll learn in this indian cooking class:

Vegetarian dishes are fantastic and diverse in the Indian cuisine. In fact, many of us don’t realize that at least half of India’s 1.2 billion people are vegetarian. Therefore, combined with India’s diverse geography and lifestyles, vegetarian foods also have reached great heights throughout the subcontinent’s thousands of years of history. Indians use many known and unknown, exotic vegetables, grains, millets, lentils, legumes, fruits and greens to make their dishes. Milk and milk products are also a big part of Indian vegetarian. Once you know how to use the various spices for the array of recipes, you’ll be able to master vegetarian, and you won’t have to sacrifice either the taste or health qualities of Indian food. I will teach you how to take your vegetarian Indian cooking to a very satisfactory level.

What you will learn

  • Samosa  made from scratch
  • Eggplant Masala–sliced eggplants in onion, ginger and garlic sauce
  • Saag Paneer–Spinach infused with home made Indian cheese and aromatic spices
  • Vegetable Pulao–Fluffy Basmati rice with onion, carrots, raisins, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves

School Notes:

Mukti's Kitchen doesn't offer refunds for both provider-initiated and student-initiated cancellations. Please refer to the Cancellation Policy tab for more information. No exceptions will be made after the order has been placed.

Refund Policy

We are sorry that we cannot issue refunds for classes, but you may send someone in your place or choose another class if you cannot make it for any reason.

We do require at least business days of notice for us to provide credit for another class, otherwise we are left with an empty spot and not enough time to refill it off the waiting list.

If we don't get three or more students, we will reschedule the class for another day and we will communicate with you via email. If the class gets canceled for any reason we will let you know in advance.

For snowy days, please contact us and we will let you know if the class is still being held.

Important: Please note that all classes are non-refundable and class cancellations made by the school and students alike are covered in the above policy.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

    The food was amazing and the teacher definitely knew a lot. I felt the class size was too large to get meaningfully involved (12 of us in a small kitchen sharing space and a subsequently small portion of food). Otherwise it was an enjoyable evening.

    I really enjoyed the experience! Mukti taught us a lot and was very receptive to all our questions. We got to smell, taste, and participate in every dish. It was a relaxed environment in which the three students in the class could chat while learning and cooking. Definitely recommend!

    Mukti's class is the real deal! It has brought me so much joy this past week cooking with and for my family and friends, and I think all of the recipes will be weekly staples (at least until I can take another class listed on her website!) I’m so grateful to know I can prepare healthy organic and incredible tasting Indian meals at home with time and patience. I learned so much in the kitchen and was happy I could take a “treasure chest” of spices home for a reasonable additional fee. Check out her website and look out for the cookbook soon!

    Mukti’s class was fabulous! I’ve always wanted to be able to cook vegetarian Indian food ( having been a vegetarian forever) but could never really get the spices right. I learned so much from Mukti’s class about using whole spices that I’m excited to try this on my own. And her cooking was better than any restaurant! Thank you!!

    This class was incredibly informative and educational! We learned A LOT of recipes and indian cooking secrets during our 3 hour class and received a great take away document with recipes and tips. Not everyone had the chance to get hands-on practice with each dish- we all took turns; however, I wish I had the chance to try cooking a bit of everything to help me learn. Mukti is very eloquent, knowledgable and passionate. She is a wealth of knowledge and will answer any questions you have! I was allowed to take photos but not take any videos.

    Mukti is an enthusiastic, engaging and warm teacher. Her philosophy of life infuses her approach to cooking, and to engaging with people in her home through the course. It is a modest size kitchen in her own home so the space is tight for a group, and the opportunities to engage hands-on are limited. But everyone gets to be in on the action one way or another and food and experience are excellent.
