Books and Burlesque is proud to celebrate its 1-year anniversary during pride month on June 10th from 9-11pm followed by an after-party until 1am!
Featuring exciting award-winning authors reading excerpts from their new books:
David Santos Donaldson “Greenland” (finalist for the 2023 Carnegie medal for excellence in fiction), Jai Ckakbarti “A Small Sacrifice for an Enormous Happiness” (short story collection), Felicia Berliner “Schmutz” (debut novel), Georgia Clark “Island Time” (romance novel), and Jo Weldon “Whorephobia: Strippers on Art, Work and Life” edited by Lizzie Borden.
Each author has been paired with a spectacular burlesque or drag performer who will be creating new acts inspired by the books they read! Starring Madame Brassiere, Bitsy Brûlée, Malai and special guests to be announced. With stage kittens Stiletto Sinclair and Ty Valentine. Co-produced by Rosie Tulips and hosted by Fortune Cookie!
We are raffling off four fabulous bags this time. Plus selling “Books and Burlesque” swag (t shirts, tank tops, tote bags and undies)! Our local book store partner Book Club Bar (197 East 3rd Street) will be selling signed copies of all our featured authors books. We can’t wait to listen and learn, dance and party with you all soon!"
