Prerequisites:
There are no prerequisites needed to attend this course however students must have an overall knowledge of rigging & hoisting in NYC per DOB rules. Individuals who are taking this course with the intent to apply for the Special Rigger License, must meet certain requirements in order to apply.
Audience:
This course is intended for individuals who are looking to apply for the Special Rigger license and intend to supervise sites where hoisting and lowering of articles, not exceeding 2,000lbs will be performed.
Course Description:
This course is a licensing requirement for applications for a Special Riggers license with the NYC DOB. As per Title 1 Rules of the City of New York - Chapter 100 - Subchapter D “Licensing and Registration of Businesses, Trades and Occupations Engaged in Building Work”, this course is required by the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) to supervise suspended scaffold projects on construction sites in New York City. During this course, participants will develop the core management skills required to be an effective Licensed Special Rigger performing rigging operations, which contributes to the professional development of an individual and provides evidence of supervisory qualifications. With the use of New York City Construction Codes and OSHA Regulations, participants will learn how to stay in compliance with the most current rigging standards. This course is aimed at experienced supervisors interested in special rigging project supervision as well as safety managers, superintendents, and individuals planning to apply for New York City Special Rigger’s license. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a 30 Hour Special Rigger course completion certificate that will be valid for 3 years.

Methods of Instruction:
This course consists of several different components which include power point presentations, lecture, real life case studies, class discussion and hands on demonstration.
Completion Requirements:
Students are required to complete 100% of the course and actively participate in all learning activities including hands-on demonstrations and the review quiz to receive course completion materials.
Hands-on assessment will be made by instructor to determine if each student is capable of applying rope knots, terminating wire rope, building a block, effectively installing fall protection systems, and inspecting/maintaining different types of scaffold hoist motors.
Make-up time is not permitted for this training course. Should students miss any portion of the training, it is the student’s responsibility to contact TSCTA to arrange to attend another scheduled event. We are waiving the penalty for cancellation or postponement requests that are not provided within the appropriate time period (3-days prior to the start of training)
Cancellation
TSCTA reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes at any time. If a course is cancelled at the request of TSCTA, after the student has registered, TSCTA will notify CH of the change and advise that the client is eligible to be rescheduled to another event or entitled to a full refund. It is the responsibility of CH to contact the student to reschedule and/or process the refund.
Should TSCTA cancel or reschedule a class due to weather or unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of TSCTA, the client is entitled to a full refund; however TSCTA is not responsible for travel arrangements, travel fees, or any expenses incurred by you as a result of such cancellation.
Should the client no longer be interested in attending training, they should be directed to contact CH who will review the request in line w/ TSCTA’s cancellation policy. Assuming it is within the required 3 business days’ notice and/or the client has not previously cancelled a registration w/o providing the required notice, they should be eligible for a full refund.
Cancellation requests received 1 to 3 business days prior to the course date will result in a credit toward attendance at a future scheduled course taking place within 12 months of the original class date. If the credit is not used within this 12 month period, the entire fee will be forfeited.
If a client is attending a course they no longer need or qualify for, should they make such claim at the start of training, no later than the lunch break, they will be eligible for a full refund.
Substitutions of attendee may be made at any time prior to the first day of training. Client will have to notify CH of the substitute students contact information.
Refund
Registrations must be submitted at least 3 business days prior to the class start date. Registrations submitted less than 3 days prior to the start of any class will not be eligible for a refund; however a credit will be issued on file.
Refund requests for students that do not comprehend the course language will not be accepted unless 3 business days’ notice is provided.
All refunds will be approved and processed through CH.
No show/missed attendance
For students who do not attend their registered course, CH may reschedule the client, free of charge, one time only. Should the student fail to attend the rescheduled date as well, a 50% deposit will be retained and the remainder of payment will be saved as a credit on file for up to 1 year.
