As per 3316.9.2.1 of the 2014 NYC Construction Codes, this course is required by the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) for individuals, not hired directly by a licensed rigger who attach or detach articles from the hook of hoisting equipment and signalpersons communicating with such in New York City. This training is geared towards individuals who perform rigging or signaling work in the construction trades in New York City.
During the training, students will be provided with an overview of OSHA and DOB policies, procedures, and ASME rigging standards with a special emphasis on recognition and prevention of hazardous conditions. Additional topics will include instructions on how to visually inspect rigging equipment, basic crane components, crane setup and methods of applying proper rigging hitches.
Students will participate in hands-on exercises in which they will be responsible for presenting, installing and using various rigging applications. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a 16 Hour Rigging Worker course completion picture ID card that will be valid for 4 years.
Learning Outcome
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Methods of Instruction
Hands-on assessment will be made by instructor to determine if each student is capable of applying rope knots, inspect rigging hardware and apply learned rigging lifting techniques. Immediately prior to the end of the course, students will independently participate in a multiple-choice final exam.
Completion Requirements
100% attendance and active participation in all learning activities including hands-on class exercises and the final exam is required. Students must earn a score of 70% or higher on the written and practical examination.
Students who do not pass the written or practical exam will have one opportunity to retake the entire 16 hour course and retake the exam at reduced fee of $150.
Make-up time is not permitted for this training course. Students who miss time from any individual session must reschedule and attend the full training course.
We are waiving the penalty for cancellation or postponement requests that are not provided within the appropriate time period (3-days prior to the start of training)
Cancellation
TSCTA reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes at any time. If a course is cancelled at the request of TSCTA, after the student has registered, TSCTA will notify CH of the change and advise that the client is eligible to be rescheduled to another event or entitled to a full refund. It is the responsibility of CH to contact the student to reschedule and/or process the refund.
Should TSCTA cancel or reschedule a class due to weather or unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of TSCTA, the client is entitled to a full refund; however TSCTA is not responsible for travel arrangements, travel fees, or any expenses incurred by you as a result of such cancellation.
Should the client no longer be interested in attending training, they should be directed to contact CH who will review the request in line w/ TSCTA’s cancellation policy. Assuming it is within the required 3 business days’ notice and/or the client has not previously cancelled a registration w/o providing the required notice, they should be eligible for a full refund.
Cancellation requests received 1 to 3 business days prior to the course date will result in a credit toward attendance at a future scheduled course taking place within 12 months of the original class date. If the credit is not used within this 12 month period, the entire fee will be forfeited.
If a client is attending a course they no longer need or qualify for, should they make such claim at the start of training, no later than the lunch break, they will be eligible for a full refund.
Substitutions of attendee may be made at any time prior to the first day of training. Client will have to notify CH of the substitute students contact information.
Refund
Registrations must be submitted at least 3 business days prior to the class start date. Registrations submitted less than 3 days prior to the start of any class will not be eligible for a refund; however a credit will be issued on file.
Refund requests for students that do not comprehend the course language will not be accepted unless 3 business days’ notice is provided.
All refunds will be approved and processed through CH.
No show/missed attendance
For students who do not attend their registered course, CH may reschedule the client, free of charge, one time only. Should the student fail to attend the rescheduled date as well, a 50% deposit will be retained and the remainder of payment will be saved as a credit on file for up to 1 year.

Training Facility is located on the corner of 36th street and 43rd Avenue. Student Entrance for training center is on 36th Street By Car: Please refer to Google maps - http://maps.google.com/ for specific driving directions for your location to our training facility. Street parking is EXTREMELY LIMITED and driving is strongly discouraged. If you will be driving, it is recommended that you leave at least one half hour to one-hour additional travel time to secure parking
