Course Format: The American Red Cross (ARC) offers a blended option for the Basic Life Support Course. The Blended learning course (half online / half in class) has three parts. This course format can be used for original or renewal students.
Part 1 is completed online by the student and covers the lecture and written test part of the course. It must be completed online by the student on the American Red Cross Website BEFORE THE SKILLS CLASS. The access link to online course will be provided in the confirmation email after registration.
Parts 2 & 3 (Practice and Skills Test) must be completed at a physical location with an ARC instructor in a traditional classroom setting (skills session).
General Course Information: This course is for Healthcare Professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. This course covers Adult and pediatric CPR, Two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag-valve mask, Foreign-body airway obstruction, Automated external defibrillation, Special resuscitation situations and other cardiopulmonary emergencies.
Students Receive: An ARC digital BLS Provider Manual and an American Red Cross course completion card (valid for 2 years).
Audience: Individuals (in school or after school) such as EMTs, PAs, Nurses, Dentists, Physicians, Hematologists, Pharmacists, Lifeguards, Paramedics, PTs, OTs, and other allied healthcare providers are likely required to be certified in BLS.
