Question from Ashley M.
Good afternoon. Per the class description, students who take this course and obtain experience can then sit for the certification. But, how do you get a job without the certification? Basically, are you guaranteed to be able to take the exam? And if not, what is the incentive to taking this course from a financial standpoint? Thank you.
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Ashley! There are three MBC certification options. They are the American Association of Professional Coders (aapc.com/certification/cpc/#tab-4), American Health Information Management Association (ahima.org/certification/CCA), National Healthcareer Association (nhanow.com/certifications/billing-coding). You generally would qualify as long as you have a high-school diploma/GED. In the case of the AAPC you would have an "Apprentice" designation until you documented having met their min. experience to have the "A" removed. The course will provide you with the skills to pursue an entry-level position in a smaller practice or billing and coding agency and prepare you to take the exams.
