About Jacob

I graduated from Cornell University with a degree in biology. After college, I taught middle school science before moving to New York City to pursue dance and choreography. To support my dance career, I've worked for eight years as a medical editor, and three years ago I began teaching it as a favor to friends. Inspired by the class's popularity, I've recently begun to offer classes in advanced editing, grammar, and MLA and Chicago style. Teaching editing is now my career, and my passion.

I am partially disabled from a dance injury, and I'm currently training in the Alexander Technique and Zen practice to help others living with pain and difficulty. I grew up in San Diego, California, and I've been living in Brooklyn for the past decade.

Directions:
The easiest way to get here is D train to 9th Ave. My apartment is a 10-minute walk from there, or you can take the B35 bus from 9th to 7th Ave and cut the walk to 2 minutes. Make sure to check mta.info for weekend service interruptions. If the D isn't running to 9th Ave, the other options are the R train to 45th St (10 minute walk uphill) or the D/N/R to 36th (15 minute walk). Although my apartment is on the first floor, there are two short sets of steps up from the sidewalk and no ramp, so this class is unable to accommodate students in wheelchairs.
