Lauren A Kaplan

Teaches at Lauren A Kaplan Art Tours

Lauren A Kaplan earned her BA in Art History at Columbia University and an MA in Education at Alliant International University in San Francisco. She is now a PhD Candidate at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, and is working on her dissertation. She specializes in art and architecture of the twentieth century with a unique focus on cross-cultural exchange between Europe and Latin America.

Lauren was introduced to museum education while interning at the Brooklyn Museum in 2003, and she has been teaching art history in museums and classrooms ever since. Currently, she teaches adult courses at the Museum of Modern Art and undergraduate classes at Hunter College and Parsons The New School for Design. She also works with school groups, adults, and families as an educator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Morgan Library and Museum. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband Ben.

The instructor, Lauren, was fabulous. So knowledgeable and interesting. I learned a lot and enjoyed all the galleries we visited. I would highly recommend a class with Lauren.

Lauren brought the whole subject to life with her extensive knowledge and her flair for imparting it so engagingly. She asked the group to examine our feelings about the Turrell pieces before talking in detail about them and that was a successful way of approaching this work. Thank you for a very stimulating and educational 2 hours.
