Ellen Herra

Teaches at Tula, Plants & Design

Ellen’s horticultural work is rooted at the intersection of the built environment and self-organizing ecosystems; each project a proposal for the greater cultivation of dynamic multi-organism communities. Her creative projects call upon both aesthetics and scientific inquiry to help remedy the estrangement of humans from ‘nature.’

Trained at the NYBG in ethnobotany and the Brooklyn Grange in urban ag. Previous work includes, Urban Ag Gardener at the Huntington Botanical Gardens, creating and facilitating a 7-week intensive program for burgeoning entrepreneurs interested in the vertical farming sector, floral design and outdoor drought tolerant landscaping.
