Michael J. Balick

Teaches at New York Botanical Garden

Michael Balick has conducted ethnobotany research throughout the world, including in Central and South America, Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East, as well as at home in New York City for the past 40 years. He holds a PhD in biology from Harvard University and is Vice President for Botanical Science, Director, and Philecology Curator at the Institute of Economic Botany at The New York Botanical Garden. Dr. Balick has written a number of books, most recently publishing Rodale's 21st Century Herbal: A Practical Guide for Healthy Living Using Nature's Most Powerful Plants in April, 2014.
