Ken Schatz is a world-renowned professional acting coach with a lifetime of experience in traditional music. The actors he works with can be seen in popular and cutting-edge work on and off Broadway and in countless hit films and TV shows. They include multiple Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Emmy Award nominees and Screen Actors Guild, Tony, Obie, and Grammy Award winners. A powerful, charismatic, nuanced singer himself, Ken has an eclectic roots repertoire, specializing in sea songs and chanteys, railroad and prison worksongs, gospel, ballads, and blues. His credits include performances and teaching workshops at major folk festivals, museums, clubs, and concert venues on both sides of the Atlantic, and he has sung, taught, and performed with — and learned firsthand from — many of America and Britain’s foremost interpreters of traditional song. His monthly singing session, Exceedingly Good Song Night, has become a destination event, kindling the enthusiasm of many young traditional singers in New York and across the country.
