Laura Marks

Teaches at Made in NY Media Center by IFP

Laura Marks has written for THE GOOD FIGHT (CBS All Access), THE EXPANSE (Amazon), THE EXORCIST (Fox) and BRAINDEAD (CBS), in addition to other projects in development. She was the first recipient of the PEN/Laura Pels International Foundation Award for an Emerging Playwright. Her play BETHANY, produced off-Broadway by the Women’s Project (starring America Ferrera), received a Lortel nomination for Outstanding Play, won the Leah Ryan Prize, and has been performed across the US and overseas. Her other plays include MINE (Gift Theatre, Chicago) and GATHER AT THE RIVER. Ms. Marks is a graduate of Juilliard’s playwriting program, an alumna of the Public Theater’s Emerging Writers Group, and a resident playwright at New Dramatists. She’s also the recipient of a Lilly Award, a Helen Merrill Award and an award from the Fellowship of Southern Writers. She’s a native of Kentucky, now living in New York.
