Seth Fried

Seth Fried is the author of the short-story collection The Great Frustration (Soft Skull Press/Counterpoint), and his fiction has appeared in the Kenyon Review, McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern, the Missouri Review, One Story, and Tin House, among many others. His work has been anthologized in the Better of McSweeney’s and the Pushcart Prizes XXV: The

Best of the Small Presses, and twice named a Distinguished Story by the editors of the Best American Short Stories series. He is a regular contributor to Shouts & Murmurs in the New Yorker magazine and to NPR's Selected Shorts. He has worked as an editor at Macmillan Publishers and assistant editor at the Mid-American Review. He holds a BA from Bowling Green State University.

Wonderful course that covered a breadth of topics, ranging from true storytelling techniques to an overview of the "business". Seth is an open, encouraging instructor that engaged the room in discussion, applied no unnecessary pressure, and came with many examples, both familiar and new. Great way to spend a day and kick your writing into gear.

I learned so much! I left inspired and like a had a leg up getting started on my writing. Seth was awesome as well - genuinely nice, funny and was a skilled teacher. The class was friendly and there was no pressure to read out work out loud (which I appreciated), but the discussions were really accessible and fun.
