What you'll learn in this oil painting class:

Dive into our painting studios to further hone your oil painting skills and artistic voice.

In this intermediate/advanced class, students will work on class prompts, individual assignments, and independent projects to challenge their technical and conceptual skills. Classes focus on advanced level representational topics, abstract ideas, and technical application skills to create form, surface, and space.

Prerequisite:

Two semesters of Oil Painting

Please note:

We are excited to have you join us for this class. Below, we’ve listed the supplies you’ll need. Notice there are general items needed for all classes as well as some items that may vary according to your teacher. Please review this list and purchase all supplies before the fist day of class unless otherwise specified.

Supplies for ALL Oil Painting Int/Adv classes:

  • 5 - 7 brushes
    • a combination of bristle and synthetic brushes is recommended, but students should feel free to buy one or the other, as their tastes see fit. (Do not purchase nylon brushes or brushes designated for acrylic or watercolor.)
    • Select a range of sizes, small and large (from #2 to #10) for: Flats, Rounds & Filberts.
    • Recommended selection to start:
      • Rounds: #2, #8, #10
      • Filberts: #6
      • Flats: #10
  • 1 Paper Palette 12 x 16”
  • 1 small jar of cold-press linseed oil (not needed for Chris Wright’s class)
  • 1 metal palette knife (approximately the length of your thumb or longer)
  • 1 drawing pencil
  • 1 eraser
  • 1 roll of blue painter’s tape
  • 1 box of latex gloves
  • 1 small glass or metal jar with lid
  • 1 bar of Ivory soap
  • Cotton rags or Bounty paper towels
  • Apron or overshirt to protect your clothes

Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Refund Policy

In the event that some or all of the meetings of the program cannot happen in person, programs will be held at the scheduled time in a virtual format via a video conferencing platform. The programs will continue through hands-on, at-home activities, lectures, presentations, and/or group discussions. No refunds will be issued should any portion of a course be held virtually.

We are not responsible for providing makeup classes or issuing refunds for programs missed as a result of illness, emergencies or other events beyond our control.

There are no refunds for outings, classes or workshops that meet fewer than three times per semester.

If you are unable to attend, you may contact [email protected] prior to the first date for a receipt that enables you to claim your contribution as a tax-deductible gift.

Unless otherwise noted in program description, the following schedule applies to programs which meet three times or more per semester:

  • To receive a 95% refund, written request must be received 14 business days prior to the first session.
  • To receive a 75% refund, written request must be received at least 2 business days prior to the first session.
  • To receive a 50% refund, written request must be received at least 2 business days prior to the second session.
  • After that, refunds cannot be granted.

All refund requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected]

Refunds are computed from the date written notice is received. To receive a refund, you must enclose the original of your confirmation letter.

Please allow three to four weeks for processing of your refund request.

Processing fees, membership fees, auditions fees and class or exercise cards are not refundable. No cash refunds.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
