I got a ton out of the class. The teacher was friendly and gave a lot of great info. I am not too familiar with Instagram so I got a lot of new info. I got the feeling that the teacher adapts to the level of each class. I really enjoyed it.

Whether you'll like this course will depend on your goals. If you want to generally have a good time and have your photos praised, this is it, sign up now!
Unfortunately, my goals were different. I genuinely hoped to learn a lot, work hard and get honest feedback that would allow me to make a serious amount of progress. That did not happen, here is why.
First, the photo critique part of the class was a disappointment. There was no negative feedback at all, just praise, and, while very pleasant, it's not really helpful.
Second, the curriculum is supposed to be fairly rigorous (at least, the printout they give you contains a good amount of info). However, it is not followed too closely at class, the focus is on making it conversational and interactive, not on making sure that the material is covered well.
Third, there was practically no in-class practice. 5 out of 8 classes we didn't even take our cameras out. If there was practice, it was usually done in a half-hearted way.
Fourth, the homework assignments were very vague and, while they provided the basic motivation to practice, they did not accomplish the goal of honing a particular skill.
