This is a Zoom Workshop to teach how to draw & paint the natural world.
Just as mystics have sought meditative peace in the woods deep quietude, the natural world has also inspired artists of all cultures. They have applied their artistic skills to capture it with the techniques of sketching. The act of sketching requires concentration. Over time with skill, practice, and dedication, sketching can develop into a contemplative art. The artist is present in the here & now of the natural world and engaged with its artistic expression on paper. In the Zoom workshop we will work from images and learn to draw and paint: rocks, clouds, trees, foilage, moutains, streams with graphite, charcoal, pastel watercolor, etc..
The Zoom workshop is open to all levels, from rank beginners to advanced students and practicing artists looking to create and share their work in community. In the spring, there will be speacial workshops offered that will take kplace outdoors in Central Park, Botanical Gardens, The Cloisteres. This zoom workshop is to prepare the student through working from images of nature from master artist sketches, paintings and photographs in black & white and color.
