Discover the Best German Classes Online

German has been spoken for hundreds of years, and is one of the most commonly spoken languages in the world; it ranks 11th. It is the most widely-spoken language in the European Union, and is the official language of Germany, Austria, and Liechtenstein. German is also one of the official languages of Switzerland and Luxembourg. There are a number of regional German dialects, which vary in vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.

Why You Should Learn German Online

Learning German can give you opportunities in business, education, and cultural enrichment. This language is widely used in education and research, and many engineering, manufacturing, and technology companies are based in Germany too. Learning to speak German can also help you connect to Germany’s rich cultural heritage. The country is home to many world-famous musicians, writers, filmmakers, and intellectuals.

Virtual German Classes

Online German classes can be a great way to learn this language. If you don’t want to commute, or you don’t like large groups of people, online learning might be a good fit for you, since this format allows you to learn without leaving your home. Online learning has exploded in popularity in recent years, as more and more people have realized just how convenient this format can be. Online learning is not the best option for everyone–for instance, some people have trouble focusing from home, while others prefer the connection they get from face-to-face instruction–however, it is definitely something to consider if you’re looking for a German language class.

Fluent City offers virtual German classes. German–Level 1 is a beginner class designed for students with no knowledge of German. It is also appropriate for those who haven’t spoken German in a long time, and need a refresher class. Students learn the basics of reading and writing in German, including conjugation of verbs in the present tense, number and gender agreement, question form, possessive adjectives, and plurals. There is plenty of opportunity to speak conversational German with the instructor and other students. After completing this class, students should be able to introduce themselves, describe their profession and hobbies, and talk about their day. The course has ten sessions, and costs $399. Fluent City offers a variety of different language classes.

German–Beginner 1 is another virtual German language class option. It is offered by ABC Languages, a language school that was founded in New York City in 1998 and now has locations across the country. This class is designed for people who don’t have any prior knowledge of the German language. Students participate in formal learning sessions where the instructor lectures about grammar and the structure of the language. In addition, there are verbal sessions, where students learn by conversing in German with other students. The course covers basic conversation skills, vocabulary, and grammar. There are six sessions in total and tuition is $250. Students meet via Microsoft Teams.

A third virtual option is German Beginner 1, which is also intended for students who don’t know any German. This class covers communication basics, such as introducing yourself, providing personal information, counting, talking about your occupation and daily routine, telling time, and understanding a schedule. In addition, students are introduced to many different vocabulary words. In order to take this class, they need to purchase the book, Aussichten A1.1. Tuition is $300, and there are eight sessions. The class is offered by the International School of Languages, which was founded in 2006 and based in .

Online vs. In-Person German Classes

Virtual and in-person classes have a number of similarities, but also some significant differences. One similarity is that in-person instruction and virtual instruction are both live, with an instructor lecturing in real time, and answering questions and giving immediate feedback. With the in-person class, this happens face-to-face, while with the virtual class, it occurs via a computer screen.

The biggest difference between the two is that with in-person learning, you have to commute to a classroom, while with online learning you get to stay at home, or wherever it is more convenient for you to learn from. For many people, the lack of travel is a major advantage. However, some people have more trouble focusing on learning from home, and prefer to be in a classroom that is specifically designed for learning.

Overall, the decision about which format to go with will vary from person to person. If you’re trying to choose between in-person and online learning, you’ll need to consider a number of different factors, including what kind of learner you are, how much flexibility you need, and how the different options will fit into your schedule.

Can I Learn German for Free Online?

There are a lot of free online German resources, and if you want to learn this language, you can definitely learn a lot online for free. You’ll find a variety of different lessons, vocabulary practice sessions, and interactive exercises online, and you can use these for both learning and practice. Ultimately though, formal training from an expert will help you learn German faster.
