Watercolor Fluid Motion Botanicals

Create beautiful blooms on paper in this watercolor painting class designed for the absolute beginner. There’s something magical about the fluidity and movement of pigments traveling through water that can represent the iridescence of petals. In this session we’ll be studying flowers and observe their wide range of color and depth. Exploring wet on wet, charging, and pulling techniques we’ll move pigments around to capture the magic of flowers.

From poppies to roses, daisies, and sunflowers, you will explore a rainbow of diverse flowers as your imagination blossoms. This art class is perfect for any nature lover out there who wants to capture the beauty of their favorite flora onto paper.

Your painting instructor will help you master the brushes and paints, and guide you at every step along your creative journey. Full of loads of helpful tips and tricks, she will share all of her knowledge and help you understand how to get started with watercolors and build a practice that will help you unwind and relax with her easy techniques.

In this watercolor class you will learn:

• Basic watercolor painting techniques
• Brush control
• Floral elements - leaves, flowers, fillers
• How to create watercolor floral compositions 
• How to compose a final art piece

By the end of this watercolor masterclass, you will not only have stunning art to hang up on your wall, but you will also have a new favorite creative hobby to enjoy.

Materials needed to participate:

• Any watercolor paint set tubes or pans. Here’s an example I like.
• A selection of Round watercolor brushes: a small size 2, medium size 8, and large size 12. Here’s an example of an excellent and economical set.
• Any Watercolor paper. I’ll be working from a 9X12 pad. Canson XL is an inexpensive but really good quality example.
• Two cups with water for cleaning and loading the brushes
• Paper towels or rags
• A plastic or ceramic plate for mixing colors (even a lid will work)
• Table salt (for special effects)
• Blow dryer (optional but good to speed up drying time)

Hi, I’m Jade and I’m an artist, calligrapher, and educator. It is my deepest belief that we can be happier and more fulfilled when expressing ourselves creatively and I'm intensely passionate about teaching and making art accessible to all. My desire is to share my creative journey: to teach, uplift, and encourage everyone to live their best creative lives. My motto in life is "Make art, feel happy!"

Virtual Class FAQ

What will be included in my Virtual Class package?

One ticket includes an access link to your live, online class. The class will be delivered via web conferencing software and feature a live, professional instructor who will walk you through a lesson as described above. You will have the opportunity to ask questions as well as participate from home.

How many people is my purchase good for?

Each ticket is good for one "device" (i.e. one computer, phone, tablet, etc. you'll be logging in from). This ensures we don't get more people in the class than the instructor can handle. Though we understand some people live together and will be working/learning together, the intent is that each class still allows for the same attention to attendees as if students purchased separately. Please be respectful of this!

Will I need anything from home to use in the class?

You will need a reliable Internet connection as well as a computer or device with which you can access your virtual class. We recommend you arrive to class 5-10 minutes early to ensure you're able to set up your device and connection. Additionally, if the class is more than just a lecture you will likely want any materials listed in the course description as "Materials Needed to Participate Fully", though you're welcome to purchase a seat and sit in and just watch.

Am I able to ask questions or interact with the class?

Yes, you'll both be able to ask questions using the chat function in the video hosting software as well as at certain intervals during the class via voice/audio. If the class winds up being on the smaller side, more spontaneous interaction/questions will be encouraged.


Do I have to show my video or speak during class?

While we recommend you do show your video and speak when encouraged to by the instructor, video and audio participation are never mandatory. We find classes have more fun experiences when people are engaging with one another, but understand not everyone will want to do so and that's ok!
