Advanced ESL

We want students and clients to develop English language skills that will improve communication and confidence in the business world. We highly focus on improving English proficiency in areas such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking as you learn how to effectively communicate in meetings, presentations, and expressing yourself to acquaintances, employees, and employers.

What you will learn:

Reading

• Read contemporary articles for specific information and interpretation
• Read articles and reports and analyze writer’s main points
• Read texts and understand genre, register, tone and attitude
• Use reading texts to inform their writing and to find evidence to support written arguments
• Use context details and clues to guess the meaning of new words

Writing

• Write detailed text on a wide range of subjects and topics
• Give personal opinions and utilize reasoning in essays and reviews
• Construct reports using research and evidence to support points
• Write different forms of communication, including formal letters, to deliver an accurate message
• Write to convey information in a clear and structured manner
• Take detailed notes when listening to information

Listening

• Understand extended speech on a wide range of subjects and topics
• Interpret indications of tone and register
• Analyze opinions and main ideas expressed in listening texts
• Use a wide variety of listening tasks as a basis for extended discussion
• Follow main arguments on familiar topics and summarize verbally
• Use listening as a basis for presenting information

Speaking

• Interact with native speakers with minimal or no issues
• Take an active part in discussions on familiar topics
• Present and explain information and descriptions on a wide range of topics
• Explain a viewpoint and include reasons and/or evidence
• Use stress, rhythm and intonation to convey meaning
• Present information clearly to others and speak accurately in various contexts
