Meenakshi is a first generation Nepalese, born and raised in the Washington D.C. area. She has been dancing and performing for over 20 years. At the age of 7, she took training in Kathak (Lucknow Gharana) under the guidance of her guru Asha Vattikuti in Northern Virginia for 10 years. Along, with Kathak, Meenakshi learned Nepalese folk dance through her teachers Prabha Deuja and Sugan Bista. ​​
Meenakshi started performing all over the country at several conventions, international shows, competitions, family events, and weddings starting at the age of 8. She took interest in Bollywood films at the age of 13, and idolized Madhuri Dixit for her dance technique and style, which is when she started to fuse her Kathak and Bollywood dance styles together. ​

On September 4, 2015, Meenakshi opened for the first show of the Hariharan & Zakir Hussain US tour, HAZIR, at GW Lisner Auditorium in Washington DC in front of an audience of 1,490.  HAZIR was produced by The Greater Washington Association of Physicians of Indian Origin  (GWAPI).
Meenakshi also opened for the first show of the Kanika Kapoor & Sukhwinder Singh US tour, Music Magic Mast Mast Kalaiyaan on September 19, 2015 at DAR Constituiton Hall, which seats 3,702 guests.  M3K was produced by Vijay Taneja of Elite Bollywood Entertainment.
