Lisa Taranto

Teaches at School of Fashion Design

Lisa Taranto is an SFD Instructor in Pattern Making, Construction, Sportswear Pattern Making, Sportswear Construction, Level IV Tailoring Construction. After graduating from Boston College with a degree in Biology, Lisa worked in the research field for five years. During this time, she also developed her sewing interest from hobby to professional career in both custom work and teaching fashion. Lisa was also a Technical Designer for companies including Bennett & Co., Judi Armand Inc. for Talbots Collection Label, and L.L. Bean Signature. Her approach to teaching draws on her science background. Lisa says "sewing is like an experiment; theory, materials list, data, observations and conclusion are all components. The end result is influenced by many variables that we can learn to control to get the results that we want.”
