Dyllan Nguyen, Andrea Vilanova

Teaches at The Eliot School

Dyllan Nguyen (woodworking, tinkering & inventing) is an artist, maker and teacher. At the Eliot School, Dyllan teaches elementary and middle schoolers through our School Partnership Program as well as in our schoolhouse. Outside of the Eliot School, his recent art addresses distraction, information/communication and relationships between people and objects. He enjoys learning new things, and as a result his work moves between disciplines, including (but not limited to) performance, sculpture, sound, installation, video, flat and virtual media. He also likes to take things apart. He holds a BFA from the Studio for Interrelated Media at Massachusetts Collage of Art & Design and an MFA in Creative Practice from Transart Institute/Plymouth University.

Andrea Vilanova woodworking/children) has worked as Educator/Mentor at Artists for Humanity (South Boston) and After-School Educator for Citizen Schools, with additional experience as an architect and construction manager at Wess Co, White Picket Fence (Northborough), Tribeca Builders (Somerville) and Paul Lukez Architecture (Somerville). She says, “By teaching, you are not only empowering an individual but also providing her with tools of knowledge for endless possibilities. Whether it’s an adult, a youth or a child, I am their teacher and I am their student as they will always bring something new to my own pool of knowledge. We should never loose the desire to learn and I hope I can contribute and bring something new to their lives even if they are not aware at that point in time.” Andrea holds both a Masters and a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from Savannah College of Art & Design.
