Rachel Maguire, Kate Carito

Teaches at The Eliot School

Rachel Maguire (comics) is an illustrator, designer and animator who lives in a realm south of Boston. She has designed characters, props and backgrounds for Soup2Nuts Animation on Emmy awarded PBS programing WordGirl and SciGirls. She has colored comics for BOOM! Studios, worked as an in-painter for The Oil Painting Conservation Studio and is a long time faculty member at the Eliot School, where she teaches comic classes to kids throughout the Boston area. She is currently the lead artist for Galactic Hot Dogs, an illustrated novel series published by Simon & Schuster. She holds a BFA in Illustration & Animation from Massachusetts College of Art & Design.

Kate Carito (comics) is an MFA candidate in fiction at the University of Massachusetts Boston where she works as a Creative Writing instructor. In addition, she teaches children creative writing through the program “Take My Word For It!” as well as comic book writing at the Eliot School. Her short story, Baptized at the Casino, was published in Best New England Crime Stories 2015: Rogue Wave. She holds an MA in Creative Writing from London Metropolitan University. Prior to her studies she worked at O, The Oprah Magazine.
