What you'll learn in this unique class:

This is a fast-paced introduction to some of the tools and mindsets of Design Thinking.

In this 3 hour session we’ll collaboratively take a problem through the Design Thinking process. You’ll leave with a basic understanding of how to conduct user interviews, generate ideas with groups, sketch your solutions, and how to tell the world about your concept.

If you’ve never been out to one of our events before this is a great introduction to Design Thinking as well as to our teaching style. From beginning to end this will be highly interactive and one thing we can promise is that you will meet some really incredible people.

Still have questions? Ask the community.

Refund Policy
If you’re looking for a refund or class credit for a public workshop, you need to back out of the class a full week before it starts. (No exceptions!) We know it’s draconian, but since we aren’t charging an arm and a leg and have to reserve space and purchase materials in advance, it’s hard to deal with last-minute changes.

We also can’t transfer registrations to a future session of the class. Sorry!

Instead of dropping out if you have a schedule conflict, a better idea is to ask around and see if any of your friends want the spot. We can’t give you a refund less than a week out, even if there’s a wait list for the class.

Regarding bad weather, we generally only cancel classes if the subway system stops running. If traveling during snowstorms might be an issue for you, please take this into account before registering for a class.

This was a great introduction to design thinking. Really hands-on focused workshop where you get to practice the steps rather than just learning the theory. These types of exercises can typically be nerve wracking to do with strangers, but our instructor, Tim, not only explained the concepts well but made everyone feel really comfortable. Obviously you won’t master design thinking in these three hours, but thought this was a great place to start.

Great participatory class! The design thinking process was well articulated. I left with some tools to use for design thinking and a clear understanding of its uses. I thought the class was informative, fun and well paced.

Interactive format; various group and solo exercises to give practical examples. A good introduction to a problem-solving framework. As an art director I was already familiar with the process, but it was still helpful to see the process formalized. Oh and they had beer.
