Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this tv writing class:

Do you have an idea for an awesome TV show? Have you written a TV pilot and want to take the next step?

You’re ready for this 4-week workshop where you’ll learn how to organically craft a successful TV series bible. With an emphasis on in-class exercises, group participation and deconstructing successful examples of the form, we’ll start from the seed of your idea, and develop it into a killer pitch document.

By the end of this course, you’ll not only have a deeper understanding of TV Bible writing, but you’ll walk away with at least a rough draft of your own TV series bible. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to hone it even more during an included one-on-one session with your instructor!

Question from Anonymous
Why is the course called TV Bible. Is it about writing religious or Bible related shows?
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there! In order to sell a TV show, it's important to generate a special pitch document called a "TV Bible" which captures the spirit and format of the show for the producer, and shows them how the show will work season after season.
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
The phrase "TV Bible" is an industry term, derived from the idea that if the Bible contains all the rules of how you're supposed to live, then a TV Bible contains all the rules of how the show is supposed to work. It's evolved to be much more complicated than that-- but that's the idea. So while you're welcome to develop a religious show, a secular show, (or any other kind of show) in the class, there is no religious content to the class itself.
