The main idea of this workshop is to learn how to apply Python libraries Pandas and Matplotlib for real-life tasks.

With this course, you will learn about the tools you need to successfully collect, analyze data and manipulate Data. You will learn all fundamentals to start using Python for Data Science. You will explore the various techniques used in solving complex problems commonly faced in data analysis with Python.

Also, we will cover how to use Python Data Analysis libraries and tools, including Matplotlib, NumPy, and Pandas to solve real-world business and financial problems.

Caveats: 1) I was novice to Python for Data Science with an elemental understanding of Python Programming. Art : Took us quickly thorough a basics course in basic Python 3 programming. This is best place to start today at 3.6 and above: trust me on this one. Syntax is evolving constantly. Next to Numpy and Pandas based data structures Good sessions, interactive and carefully building on concepts , that are helpful to reiterate the basics. Create a datastructure from real life data gathered.. Next to Matplotlib to visualize a story and pictorially depict it. Finally a project to tell a story from current data. Great place to get an intro and feet wet into Data Science. Next step.. find a project to help out on and keep learning! cheers Jes Kuruvilla, PhD

I was looking for a data science class I could take while having a full-time job. This course was great because all the classes happened on the weekends. I knew a basic python already, so picking up the concepts was easy. Art is a patient teacher that's happy to help you out with homework before class if you're stuck on a problem. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking to kickstart your learning of Numpy, Pandas, and Matplotlib.

Having the lessons be in Jupyter Notebooks was great. I would have liked the auxilliary materials to be put somewhere I can get at them, too (he showed some slides) The biggest problem is that getting Jupyter running on your laptop requires some mysterious commands for me because i am not used to working with a terminal. A handout about how to get it running and how to trouble-shoot it when it doesn't run would have been much appreciated.

The instructor seemed like a nice person. However, the course was very ineffectively designed and run. I couldn't follow the instruction because I was trying to copy the codes from the board the entire time. We also did not get any practice time or activity to check our learning. I regret to say it but I did not learn much, if at all, from this workshop.

I learned more in two sessions than I did in two weeks' worth of reading and watching videos, and was able to apply it fairly quickly. I'd recommend this class to anyone looking to just get their feet wet in the data sciences.
