Douglas Amport and John La Polla founded Bitter & Esters, the city’s first do-it-yourself brewery, motivated by their knowledge and passion for brewing as equal parts art and science. Fueled by the desire to inspire, educate, and nurture the growing homebrew community in a friendly space, they conceived Bitter & Esters as a brew on premises location, complete with classes, and access to resources, as well as a supply store and creative hub for sharing brew tips and techniques.
Bitter & Esters fosters a deep commitment to the craft of brewing, as well as the creative spirit that comes with it. Anyone can learn how, so stop by! See what you can brew.
Really fun and informative class, and the free beers were great!
Very helpful and informative course.
Very fun class with a knowledgeable instructor. We tried some of the beers other classes had made and they tasted great! Excited to try my own batch!
Very informative, and the instructor was fun and knowledgeable! Improvement could be made in the amount of distractions, as the course is taught inside the shop and customers were coming in and out making a decent amount of noise.
Very fun, incredibly informative, I definitely feel like I learned enough to brew my first batch!
Very knowledgeable teacher with a lot of very helpful insight into brewing
knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic instruction by people who love good beer!
The course and the teacher were extremely informative and fun. The tasting part put the preceding lecture and slides into practical use and helped illustrate the differences between different hops. Warmly recommended!
Informative and entertaining with great instructors.
Excellent and clear lecture with hands-on elements and plenty of supporting material for follow-up self-study and experimentation that will surely help take the next steps with the hobby.
