Ajna was created to share the practice and rich culture of authentic, Indian dance with a global and diverse audience. Ajna Dance Company was founded in New York City by dance artist Minila Shah, an accomplished bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer who has trained, taught and performed in Canada, the United Kingdom, India and the US.
Minila has been dancing since the tender age of 6, has traveled to India twice to further her study of dance and was the Artistic Director of Bollywood Grooves Dance Company in London, UK. Minila’s passion for dance, enthusiastic and warm personality and exceptional talent make her popular everywhere she goes. Minila now calls New York City home and is excited to bring her unique style and talent to the city. She is passionate about sharing Indian dance and culture through classes and performance and by making this easily available and accessible to everyone.
