Conor is a freelance musician and music teacher based in New York City who holds a Masters of Music Performance Degree and a Bachelor of Fine Arts-Specialized Honors Degree in Jazz Performance.
Conor currently teaches group percussion and keyboard at public schools in New York and teaches private classes in his own studio in Queens. Proficient in a variety of styles, Conor teaches jazz, rock, R&B, World music, Hip Hop and Latin rhythms.
By learning music through theory, technique, listening, leadership opportunities within ensembles, exploring cultural styles and instrument application, students can develop the tools to both learn as well as understand music, allowing them a creative outlet that will translate into other areas of life. Conor understands each individual learns in their own way and at different speeds and encourages students to spend a designated set of time each week to work on the materials discussed in class.
In group classes Conor provides a calm environment that results in a positive and fun experience for all students as they develop skills to work and learn together as part of a greater whole.
In addition to leading his own group, Conor performs with the Vivi Hu Quartet (blending jazz, contemporary and Asian music) and as a sideman with various bands. He is a member of Gamelan Yowana Sari (Indonesian classical music ensemble). He is also experienced in Musical Theater and Artist Accompaniment.
