Epoxy is an important part of a boatbuilder's, and a boat owner's, toolkit. It can be used as a waterproof coating, as an excellent gap filling adhesive, as a moldable repair filler and, combined with fiberglass cloth, as a structural element for repair or construction. Epoxy can be clear, tinted opaque, or a solid color. Knowing how to properly select, mix and apply epoxy can make it possible to make permanent repairs to canoes, kayaks and other small boats made of a variety of materials.
In this brief evening class, learn the basics of using epoxy for marine applications from John Van Buren, who will demonstrate its properties and applications.
All necessary materials will be provided. Students should wear clothes they will not be upset with possibly getting a permanent spot of epoxy on.
