Emily Garfield

Emily Garfield is a professional artist based in New York City. She works in pen and watercolor to create intricate maps of imaginary places inspired by the visual language of cartography as well as the fractal similarity that cities share with biological patterns such as cells and neurons. Previously based in Boston, Emily has exhibited widely in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York. She has facilitated workshops throughout the greater Boston area at venues including the Normal B. Leventhal Map Center of the Boston Public Library, the DeCordova Museum, and the Peabody Essex Museum.
