Seongmin Ahn

Teaches at The Korea Society

Brooklyn-based Korean painter, Seongmin Ahn, holds a B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Seoul National University and a second M.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has taught at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Queens Museum of Art, Voelker Orth Museum, the Creative Center for Women with Cancer, and University Settlement.

Seongmin Ahn graduated from Seoul National University and Maryland Institute College of Art. Her work takes Asian traditional painting as a starting point and transforms it into something experimental with her own
interpretation, bridging tradition and modern, as well as East and West.

She received a grant from Pollock Krasner Foundation and a first prize from
AHL Foundation. She has been reviewed in the Washington Post, the
Philadelphia Inquirer, NY Arts magazine, Baltimore Sun and Plain Dealer.
She has exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, Queens College Art Center,
and Hello Museum.
