Shin Kim

Shin Kim, a native of Seoul, Korea, is a modern Korean chef specializing in the art of simple culinary creations for the home kitchen. Following her training at the Institute of Culinary Education in 2009, Shin refined her craft at some of New York's finest Michelin-starred restaurants, including Jean Georges, Gilt, and Adour. 

In 2012, Shin began her career as an independent culinary instructor. She focuses on bringing simplicity to Korean cooking and has been invited to teach at the Whole Foods Bowery Culinary Center, the Brooklyn Kitchen, the Jewish Community Center, and other select kitchens in New York City. Shin chronicles her culinary journey through her personal blog, shinshine.com, which recounts hundreds of her own reflections on Korean food, from hearty meats to delicious vegetable dishes, as well as sweet desserts for home cooks. 

Outside of the kitchen, Shin is an enthusiast of all Korean culture. Her articles about hidden Korean gems in New York City have appeared in The Korea Times, The Korea Herald, and Yonhap News. She also translates the subtitles for Korean dramas, most recently Who Are You (후아유), The Golden Empire (황금의 제국), and Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love (장옥정, 사랑에 살다).
