Tata Leban

Tata Leban was born Tbilisi, Georgia, in an artistic family. Her mother was a ballet dancer and her father an artist and singer. She studied dance for fifteen years with the Georgian National Ballet starting at age 4. Through her dance studies she traveled to perform at festivals all around Europe. 

Tata has been painting and drawing since she was a little girl. She decided she wanted to become an artist and fashion designer when she was 15 and after graduating from high school she went to the Academy of Fine Arts where she studied Art and Fashion Design for six years. 

After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree, she moved to New York at the age of 20, where she enrolled at Parsons New School for Design and studied fashion design for two more years. She has worked as an assistant designer at New York fashion companies such as Betsey Johnson, Laundry by Shelly Segal, Aeropostale, Jules Reid and Undergear. She learned Shibori and Batik at The Academy of Fine Arts in Georgia and she sells her scarves in NY at The Manhattan Young Designers Boutique at Volang. She sells her drawings and paintings as well.
