What you'll learn in this cake decorating class:

Learn how to decorate cakes and sweet treats with basic buttercream techniques and six simple-to-pipe flowers that transform ordinary cakes into extraordinary results. Your Certified Wilton Method Instructor will help you pipe classic buttercream decorating techniques to create modern and traditional cake designs.

Upon completion of Wilton Course 1, students will take home their totally decorated, edible, (and totally delicious!) cake, along with the Wilton 1 decorating kit, instruction manual, and Wilton 1 Certificate, certifying they completed the course.

Course Details:

Your Certified Wilton Method Instructor will help you each step of the way, as you learn how easy it can be to:
  • Make icing the right consistency to decorate
  • Fill and use a decorating bag
  • Ice and decorate a cake and other sweet treats with the latest techniques
  • Make different buttercream icing flowers
  • Pipe words, lines, make simple borders, letters and shapes on your cake
  • Transfer images to a cake to decorate
Students must bring:
  • Apron, chef's jacket or clothes you can get messy
  • 6 Plastic cups
  • Napkins or paper towels
  • Small Pair of Scissors

Hello, I am looking into the June 7th course for the Wilton Course 1. Is it going to be happening? I see there are 12 seats left. I would be taking a day off of work and I would REALLY be upset if it was canceled late as in the previous reviews...

Hi, Batsheva! The school advised that the only spatula technique covered in class is when students ice and frost the cake with a spatula.

The teacher, Danny, was amazing. She went over the techniques slowly, and walked us through, if we were having a bit of trouble, she took the time to help us understand, and showed us how to do it. The class was overbooked, but it still was a small class (12), so she was able to give individual attention to each student. I never felt rushed, during the practice sessions, for each technique. Actually, during the practice, Danny walked around -- which is how she was able to give us a lot of attention. I highly recommend it, and will definitely take another class.
