Bean to Bar: A Pre-Valentine’s Day Chocolate Tasting with Alexandra Leaf
Is chocolate an aphrodisiac or modern-day superfood? Perhaps a bit of both!
On this run-up to Valentine’s day, join chocolate expert and Salon du Chocolat judge Alexandra Leaf for an exploration of one of our favorite foods: chocolate.
You’ll learn about the culture of chocolate – from bean to bar – and discover how this New World food is helping to reshape the economies of countries worldwide. Alexandra will share her tasting expertise with a handy checklist of flavors and textures that articulate the vocabulary of chocolate. You’ll get to taste and rate chocolate like an expert through a sampling of top-rated, international artisanal chocolate bars.
This lover-ly afternoon will conclude with homemade chocolate sorbet and a chilled glass of Prosecco!
Classes are not refundable, but you can reschedule if we are notified at least 7 business days prior to the class you have signed up for. If you find you can not make it to a class at the last minute, please consider finding someone to take your place.

Miette means, "little crumb" in French. This name was chosen while giving cooking classes at the restaurant Tartine in the West Village. Since Tartine means "slice of bread" we thought it an appropriate name for the school!

There are 2 entrances located between Umbertos Clam House. One is to the left if facing the restaurant and that is 1 flight up the stairs you will need to press 11 then the green bell key and wait to be buzzed in. The other is to the right of the restaurant that is a black street level elevator and just press the elevator button to gain access and go to the 2nd floor. There is also an intercom system there as well in case the elevator is locked. Closest Train stations are: B,D at Grand Street,N, R, J, Q, 6 at Canal Street. Parking is available on Elizabeth & Mott between Hester and Canal Street.
