What you'll learn in this tasting class:
Event Description:
This event includes a wine and cheese tasting where guests learn how to look, smell, and taste like a sommelier. They will leave this event knowing how to taste certain characteristics in wine and what wine to pair with their food.
Through small competition, entertaining anecdotes, and a full menu, WineO 101 makes learning about wine fun and accessible!
Event Itinerary:
- Prosecco is poured for each guest while Mark provides a brief introduction to the event
- The introduction includes a small competition where each "team" attempts to label different smells given to them.
- Once the teams are finished, the answers are revealed, points are added up, and the guests receive information as to why smells are important in the world of wine
- The next wine is poured after the introduction and this wine is then used to explain some of the characteristics of wine and how they can be observed by the glass
- After, a new wine is poured to "practice" the skills that were just presented
- The next two wines are secret. Guests work in teams to determine different things about the secret wine.
- Points are totaled, answers are revealed, and the winners will receive a small prize.
What You Will Taste:
5 different wines:
- Prosecco
- Reisling
- Sauvingon Blanc
- Los Morros
- Blind Taste test (wine varies, but will be red)
4 cheeses and salami:
- Brie
- Gruyere
- Goat
- Truffle
Guests can take home the info sheet they are provided with at the start of the event. They are encouraged to take notes on it if they would like to. The sheet includes all of the information presented to them during the event.
If guests win the small competition during the event, they are able to take home a very small WineO Club themed prize.
About the Instructor:
Mark makes learning about wine something fun, entertaining, and accessible. He takes the intimidating subject of wine and being a sommelier to something that everyone can understand. He tells stories, plays games, and leaves the guests with at least one new piece of knowledge!
